Good food. Great staff. Real value for the money. One of my favorite Daytona Beach restaurants. Ask for Jacqueline or Jeffrey, two very attentive servers.

OMG! This place was my style! the waitress was sweet the menu was amazing and the food was to die for. And the food was even better the next day because the servings were so large we all took food home. The desserts were excellent, save room! This was the best family dinner we had on this trip!

The service is fantastic! We came for lunch and the waiter, Brett opened up 20 minutes early for us without any hesitation. The food and atmosphere were awesome! Definitely coming back!

The atmosphere was enjoyable and so was the great happy hour special! The service was amazing. The food was horrendous. Will go back, but not for the food.

The food was ok but crazy overpriced. For example, they charged over $10 for about 6 ounces of spaghetti and (vegetarian) marinara sauce! The pasta was not even fresh made, it was the dried stuff from a supermarket shelf. This place will nickel and dime you to death. I went for dinner with a friend (he had fish which took over an hour to arrive, the waitstaff ignored us the whole time. Only when we got up to leave before being served our entrees [if you call 6 ounces of dried spaghetti an entree...] did they look confused like they had no idea we were even still there). They even had the nerve to include a $2.00 surcharge for sharing an appetizer! The total cost for sub-par food and an hour of wait time was over $60. Let my experience serve as a warning shot to others.

Food good - service good. We were a party of 6...our total for three checks was over $175. Caesar salad lacked dressing so two of us ask for extra dressing...charged 25 cents extra. Increase your entree price to accommodate a couple extra teaspoons of dressing! Pathetic to charge a customer 25 cent when they just paid 50.00. It's not the quarter but the principle of nickel and dimeing a customer. Charging that quarter is an insult.

Great ambiance and a really good selection of food. We had the stuffed flounder, lobster bisque and do not forget to order a cannoli for dessert if they have them. They make them fresh in the restaurant and they are stellar!!! Jaquelyn was an outstanding server!

Went there for Mother's Day lunch. Service was excellent and food was good. Sat outside and it was absolutely gorgeous. Would be a nice place in the evening with some wine.

I was looking for a place to eat on beach street and happened upon this one. It has a beautiful atmosphere both inside and out. I sat inside for my meal with my mother who is visiting from out of town. We both had the Alfredo, I had shrimp and she had chicken. It was decent, not bad, but not amazing either. It was a great portion for lunch. The service was a tad slow but friendly. I will probably come back mainly because the ambiance is so nice. I want to try their happy hour.

My husband and I were invited to lunch here about 2 weeks ago. We had an enjoyable meal, the food was good and the atmosphere was nice, although for lunch, service was quite slow. We enjoyed it and last night we wanted to eat dinner there after we walked around for the festival on Beach St. We had our toddler with us and thought it was a perfect night to eat out on the patio. We walked up there at around 7pm, this is a Friday night. First, we walk up to the patio entrance and there is not one employee there to greet anyone, nor are there any signs about where the hostess was. We walked in to the restaurant where the host stand was and told an employee that was there that we would like a seat outsode. The employee quickly told us she would get someone to help us. There was one other person waiting in the restaurant waiting area. Outside on the patio there were about 5 open tables, and inside we could see plenty of open tables as well. The person who came up to help us, I think is the manager. She told us it would be 15 to 20 mins before we could have a table. We were a little confused as you would think a restaurant on a Friday night would staff enough people to serve customers with so many open tables available. The manager told us we could wait in the tiny waiting area, we couldn't fit the stroller in it obviously, or we could wait standing outside. We were getting a little more agitated. We stood outside for 5 minutes when the manager sat the one other person that was waiting, and then came over to us and told us she could sit us but we could only get drinks and it would be a half hour until our order could go in! It went from a 15 to 20 min wait to our order couldn't even go I'm for 30 minutes!? Are you kidding me, all while there are still plenty of open tables. We decided to just leave at this point. At least the manager was honest, which was the only redeemable moment of our quick visit. This place could be a great place, but then I remembered I live in Daytona. If this establishment was in a nice city with good and well run restaurants this would of never happened. Please learn to staff your restaurant appropriately, we probably won't return.

I really enjoy the ambiance and the staff have been great every time I've been there. Some people might scoff at the idea of eating Italian food in Daytona Beach but I think this place is great and I'd go there again.

My boyfriend and I ate at Zappis twice on our trip to Daytona. The restaurant and the outdoor courtyard are beautiful and they have really good live music on weekends. We had the grouper (highly recommend!), pizza, wings, and a pasta dish. The staff was awesome, and the owners Paul and Jen get to know all the guests. It's our favorite Italian place when we are in town!

Love the downtown location with outdoor seating. Great food, especially the pizza and salads. Can't wait to try something else next time!

**update from my last review- someone actually went in & deleted the only other slightly negative reviews that I had read earlier. Interesting, considering that the review said "they delete all negative comments about them" I wasn't surprised...

Interesting back alley but music too loud. Waitstaff very attentive but if you do not want pizza a very limited restaurant. I question if all the entrees are truly home made since they almost all come out of the kitchen in the same size/shape. The sauce is ok a bit sweet but not thick and pasty like so many DB "italian" restaurants. Chicken parm was pretty good as was the lasagna but the lack of creativity in the menu detracts from the desire to come back.

Been here twice: once dine-in and once take-out. Had the slice special w/ salad. Great experience both times. Really new location & great decor/atmosphere.

We walked past here on our way to another restaurant and decided to come back the following night. The reviews were good, the menu looked good...but it's really just another average Italian joint. We had to wait 25 minutes for a table on a Tuesday night (there were plenty of tables, just not enough servers). Once seated, it took forever to get our food. The waitress apologized but honestly didn't seem apologetic. We ordered bruschetta, which was good, and my daughter had the Italian Wedding Soup which she said was very good. I had chicken parm which was average, and a bit too much sauce on the linguini. My other daughter had rigatoni alla vodka sauce, which was good, and my husband had fish with roasted potatoes and carrots, all of which was good but nothing special. We noticed some people with pizza that looked delicious. We might try them again for pizza - but take out!

This restaurant has such a great atmosphere. I think overall the staff was very hands on, every waitress helped out the others. I did not go without a drink all night. Enjoyed the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. I got Alfredo which wasn't the best it was a pasty Alfredo and my Cesar salad was a very strong dressing.

Service, food, and decor are great here! We really enjoyed "The Monterey" pizza. We first went to Don Vito's around the corner and we were not impressed so we decided to come here. We walked in and looked at each and knew we made the right decision to come here.

First time visit for lunch. Very nice atmosphere inside or out. Glass of my favorite chianti (Stracholi) $6 nice wine selection. The Caesar salad has a good amount of shaved Parmesan and not over done on dressing. Next a slice of pepperoni pizza $3 very nice. Moving on to the Aegean salad with Shrimp $13 - good flavor and great dressing that you add as much as you wish. The blackened grouper sandwich $16 was delicious. Overall a great experience. Our server (Barry) was very attentive and regularly check on us. We will be back.

Review for take-out/pick-up order of pizza and calzone on 3/22 Pretty good overall... NY/NJ style pizza. Good crust, sauce had a great tomato flavor, and the meatball was an actual meatball that they chopped into chunks (not just hamburger meat crumbled on.) After ordering Constantine's a week or so ago, this was 10x better. less greasy (not really greasy at all actually), better dough, better flavor. The calzone was also tasty... a little less ricotta filling than I would have normally liked but that's getting picky. The peppers and onions added were good size chunks, leading me to believe they were cut by hand (and probably fresher) than someone buying packaged, precut veggies. So, that was good. Pizza and calzone are made (and picked up) in a separate "Pizza & Deli" part of the restaurant, which was clean and very presentable. With Mediterranean Experience shut down on Beach St, this will probably be our go to place for pizza & calzones. (say what you will about Med Ex, but their pizzas, calzones, and strombolis were legit.)

We stopped in here while on vacation, it was worth it! The service was attentive, both the waiter and the hostess checked on us. Food was good and quick.

Happened by this place just driving around at bike week. Wanted a good calzone and we found it. The wait is a little long but worth it to me. Only bummer is $2.50 for a soda. That seems to be common anymore. The atmosphere was very nice. They had outdoor seating in a Pavillon setting that reminded me of Europe and a restaurant with an attached lounge which is where we sat beside a huge window wall. I'll be back.

"Good menu, and fresh breath of new up and coming things on Beach Street! Had same server all three times and she was always on the ball with great service. Everything I've had has been fresh and delicious!

We have had many a great relaxing meal here. The atmosphere is great, the service is attentive, and the food is delicious! A wonderful place to bring the whole family and enjoy a truly Italian dinner. Location on Beach Street is convenient with available parking close to the restaurant. They make "Happy Hour" a happy place! Owner Paul has a fantastic thing going!

Update to my review from May....The gelato that was passed off as being "flown in from Italy" can also be found in Publix. It's called Talenti and is not manufactured anywhere close to Italy, let's try TX. After discovering this, and being mislead by the waiter, I would NEVER go back. Shame on you for charging so much for pre-packaged food!

Lunch: seated in noisy cluster of 6 other groups when rest of place was empty so moved. After ordering, our waitress began to drag the furniture around rearranging the tables & chairs. After she left another server did the same thing. I was waiting for them to fire up the vacuums. Food fair & overpriced. No apparent management in charge. Basically charmless Italian themed place. Not worth the effort or price.

We had dinner last night. From my previous experience I had expected great service but I was disappointed. Waited 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken. OK, I let that slide. Ordered the antipasta and salad and they were great but less than halfway through, along came the pasta! So the pasta sat getting cold while the antipasta was finished. Our server was nice enough but not a professional waiter. Had some second person serve the pasta, had to have the bartender get a second drink order. It wasn't that busy and we dined early but there was no attention to be had to when what needed to be served. This is the second time that has happened but I will give them a chance to fix this. Too bad that the service continues to degrade the fantastic food. They just need to tweek things to be top notch.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
